A Prayer for Our Marriage

A Prayer For Our Marriage

Father, in the Name of Jesus, we come boldly to Your throne of grace to find help and mercy in this time of need. We come with Your Word, Father, concerning our marriage.

The Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15, This is the assurance we have in approaching you our Father: that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us. And if we know that You hear us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of You.

We know Father, that it is Your will for our marriage to be whole. We know that Your will is for us as a couple to be in agreement, to be at peace, and to have a beautiful relationship.

Therefore, we have confidence that You will make our marriage complete so that people will glorify your name in the day of visitation. We thank You, Father, that You were a witness on our wedding day when we made our marriage vows. We confess that we will guard ourselves in our spirits so that we will not break faith with one another. (see Malachi 2:14-15).

We praise You, Father, that we are no longer two, but we are one flesh. You have joined us together. And what God has joined together, no man will separate (see Mark 10:7,9). We know that Satan’s purpose is to destroy our marriage. But we also know that Jesus came to bring abundant life to our marriage (see John 10:10.)

We thank You, Father, that You have given us power over all the works of the enemy (see Luke 10:19). We know that we our not enemies with one another. Our fight is against the principalities and powers of darkness (see Ephesians 6:10-12).

In the Name of Jesus, we submit ourselves to you and resist the devil, therefore, he must flee from us (see James 4:7). We take authority over the spirit of confusion, strife, adultery, and divorce and all the powers of darkness that have come to destroy our marriage. In the Name of Jesus, we are free from the power of the devil.

Father, we pray that You will show us the changes that we need to make. We pray as David prayed, we desire truth in our inner being; make us therefore to know wisdom in our inmost heart (see Psalm 51:6). We desire to know the truth because the truth will set us free. Help us, Father, to walk in love toward each other. Amen.
